Huh, TIL that The Plastic Age had two silent adaptations. Thanks!
Yes, I was surprised at that, also. Too bad it's not extant—a comparison between it and the Bow one might be interesting.

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

I did not remember these costumes from the film, but yes, that's what they were wearing. :)

Here is a photo of Cecil B. DeMille with actresses on the set of The Affairs of Anatol. The actresses include Agnes Ayres, Bebe Daniels, Shannon Day, Julia Faye, Wanda Hawley, Ruth Miller, Polly Moran, and Gloria Swanson. (That's eight; I'm not sure of the identity of the ninth.)

Fascinating variety of clothing! I think that may have been the object of this photo, to showcase the costumes, don't you? I wish this were in color.

I downloaded this awhile back with an idea of posting it. Unfortunately, now that I'm getting around to posting it, I can't remember who it is. It's a retired silent actress, though, I'm pretty sure.

Google image and file name searches turned up nothing, oddly. Oh, well, it's an interesting photo. :) The cigarette definitely takes center stage.

Strangely, that cigarette doesn't look like it was in the original picture.

Pola Negri, maybe? Do you remember the nationality?

Yes, if you zoom in, it looks like it was photoshopped in with not-quite-right placement. :)

No, not Pola, though that's a good guess. I think it's a somewhat lesser-known actress. No, I don't remember it.

An unusual pose, but it shows off her beautiful eyes well.
