Literature That Glorifies the Photoplay

Post by Kitty »

This poem makes me think. Imagine a world with a brand new medium that allows you to relive history that was never ever possible before!

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

That does make you think! We take for granted the ability to go back and visit history, but how new and exciting it must have seemed then.

This is a well-written little poem that was submitted and printed in the October 1912 Motion Picture Story Magazine.

Here's an acrostic filled with glowing praise for the very first named movie star, Florence Lawrence.

I love that! I get the idea Roy kind of liked Florence. ;)

I love the first two lines. Not so sure about "Comedy, melo, or farce, are her sheen;" though.

Yes, they really did put those actors on a pedestal, like they were perfect angel-like creatures that could do no wrong and are amazing in everything. I'm sure when the actors read them, they were in amazement. I bet a lot of them made them laugh a little :)

Yes, I remember reading in the biography of Theda how astonished she was to see what they wrote about her, and how much fun she had reading it.
