I saw The Avenging Conscience so long ago, and don't think I've seen Death's Marathon, so I'm not sure, either.
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

It's been awhile since I've seen The Avenging Conscience also, but looking back at Death's Marathon, I'm pretty sure that's it. Henry B. Walthall an Blanche Sweet are great in that one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-EB4txUOrk

Another of Griffith directing, this time a scene with Miriam Cooper in Intolerance. Dorothy Gish is looking on behind Bitzer. The one in the far back behind Griffith looks like Mae Marsh, but hard to tell for sure.

Don't these all kind of look like posed photos? Kind of interesting.

I'm pretty sure those were made during the filming, though a photographer may have said "freeze" to make a promotional still. The young man in the cap, white shirt, and tie, by the way, is Karl Brown, Griffith's assistant, here holding the script book. He is the one who later in the '60's wrote that fabulously entertaining book about his experiences with Griffith.

I don’t think this one’s been posted. Mary Pickford having her hair washed. :)
