Bluesy Music n Jazz, too!

Post by Kitty »

I feel like Janis Joplin was a treasure stolen from us much too early. This song, Summertime, gives me chills every single time I hear it.

This version of this song is my favorite right now. The lyrics to Ace in the Hole are very reassuring and just as true as when they were written!

Live version of Get It While You Can sung by Janis Joplin. Chills! OoOoOh! She put her all into her music. One gets the feeling that she really means what she is singing.

Ah, a fellow Janis fan! You're right, she really gives every tune her all. Grace Slick said of her that, despite being so young, she'd had her heart trampled with enough regularity that would take most others - including Grace, even though she was older - years to understand. I think that's certainly part of what goes into her often haunting voice.

Ah, Sister Rosetta! They say she basically taught Chuck Berry everything he knew.

This song is from the first CD I ever owned called Never Say Never (1998) by Brandy. Have You Ever? I had to listen to this twice, (singing with it both times, of course!) It's amazing how the lyrics come back to you like there haven't been 20 years in between.

Nice songs, both of them. Yes, it is astonishing how music can stick with you and can conjure up the past so powerfully...
