Re: Favorite Old Songs
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Favorite Old Songs
Yes, that's a really good one. Thanks for bumping it!
Her voice kind of reminds me of that of Alice Lon on the old Lawrence Welk show.

Re: Favorite Old Songs
It's the kind of warm, deeper voice (I don't know the term for it!) that's so alluring. Thanks for sharing that song. It's got that bounce that I love. I have never watched The Lawrence Welk Show. Was it a variety show, or mostly music?

Re: Favorite Old Songs
Glad you liked that. LW was a longtime big band leader. He had a successful show for a long time on TV—something like over 30 years, I think. I’ve always enjoyed watching reruns of the show and have gotten very familiar with a lot of the regulars. It can be pretty corny, but that never bothered me. It was pretty much a straight musical program, though they did have some musical skits, I guess you’d call them, and also some dancing.
Re: Favorite Old Songs
I'm gonna check Welk out. Of course I've heard of him, but I've never looked close into it.

Re: Favorite Old Songs
This is from the special "Merry Christmas, Fred, From the Crosby's". You've Got a Friend sung by Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Bing Crosby's son, Harry.

Re: Favorite Old Songs
This one crosses over between old time radio and old time music. This one is from The Danny Kaye Show. There are 10 or 11 available to hear. I need to remember more to
Accentuate the Positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with Mister InBetween.
