This cylinder is in good condition, has great sound for a 1912 recording. This is the same song that Jolson's character as a child sings in The Jazz Singer. I never knew the name of it.

I thought you guys may be interested in this ancient hymn to the Hurrian goddess Nikkal. It is the oldest music ever discovered.

That's quite interesting. I wonder how accurate of a re-creation of the pitches and rhythms this is. They must have some credible way of deciphering whatever system of notation they used.

I think it's pretty accurate, though I'm not sure how they know. There were even lyrics to the song, but it is not fully translated.
