Yesterday I learned that Kenny Delmar (“Senator Claghorn” of Allen’s Alley fame) made the first of his few film appearances at age 10 in “Orphans of the Storm.” He played the Chevalier as a boy. Or if I knew it before, I’d forgotten it.
The main fact I had known about him was that after Foghorn Leghorn was created, Delmar had to get permission from Warner Brothers to continue doing his original character of Claghorn, because the cartoons were copyrighted and the radio shows weren’t.

I'd never heard of the Senator Claghorn, so I watched a YouTube clip of him. He was a pretty funny character. And definitely shades of Foghorn there!

I say, I say, you'd think it would be the other way round, interesting that Warner brothers did that, copyrighted the character, I suppose they did that with all their major cartoon characters.
We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
