Re: Animated Silents

Here is another Winsor McCay animated short. I like this one a lot better than the earlier Gertie the Dinosaur.
Please watch. I'd love to hear comments! Dream of a Rarebit Fiend: The Pet (1921)
P.S. What do YOU think that thing was?

Here is a fascinating stop motion story from Russia. Wolverine and Vixen (1983).

Re: Silent Shorts

Life of An American Fireman (1903) has some very interesting footage! I read that it combined acting with real forward to make the film. This is an example of a perfect film: straightforward, interesting, and best of all NO intertitles

Re: Silent Shorts

Dream of A Rarebit Fiend (1906) is actually pretty creepy, especially the bed part. It's based on Windsor McCay's comic strip of the same name. This copy has bad music, but it's the best quality video I saw on YouTube. Oh, and the spitting part should have ended up on the cutting room floor. Blech! ...

I like that! I've seen that photo before, but it's so much funnier and more effective when you see it in context.
Isn't it? Read under the last picture. very funny!

Man...that's an odd one. It's by turns funny and...creepy.
 I loved it!! Actually I found it because I googled unusual silent films and that's one of the ones on the list. Stay tuned for more in the future! :)

Re: Favorite photos of silent stars

Ever wonder about photos of stars that don't seem to come from any film? Well, this one is a curious one, no? Screenshot_20170604-102025~01.png I saw a tweet by @theflyingeditor where she had tracked down where the photo came from. It's from Picture Show Magazine, October 30th, 1920. The article has...

Re: Die Nibelungen (1924)

Great review! I know absolutely nothing about this one. The talk about the length of the film reminded me of another film called La Roue. This one is French, from 1923. It's 4 and a half hours long. I loved it so much.
