Thanks! It was fun to do. Would have been incredible to see Gillette in his prime. He had already been doing the play about 17 years when the film was made.

Can’t remember if I shared this back when I made it a few years ago... scenes from William Gillette’s “Sherlock Holmes” combined with the only sound recording of him playing the character (20 years later, at age 83).

Just realized this came out the same year as the film version of William Gillette’s Sherlock Holmes. Wonder which was first.

Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916)

Watched this Douglas Fairbanks "Coke Ennyday" short last night (albeit with a different soundtrack). With all the drug-abuse humor, it almost feels like a film that belongs in the 1970's or 80's. (Wonder what sort of rating it would get today.) And the ending couldn't help reminding me of Daffy Duck...
