Re: From the Sears catalog...

Sears sold gasoline-powered kitchen stoves at one point. Yikes! Having gasoline in regular close proximity to a stove sounds like a really bad idea. And these things apparently operated on gasoline vapor , which is even worse. Sears goes to lengths to assure customers that there is no danger...

Re: Dark Shadows

619 Ok, let me keep this straight. Adam wants Eve, Eve wants Jeff, Jeff wants Vicky. Nicholas wants Maggie, Maggie wants Joe*, Joe wants Angelique, Angelique wants Barnabas, Barnabas wants Vicky. *kind of Vicky seems to be the focal point. :) 620 I'd forgotten about Barnabas's plans to do away with ...

I never fail to picture Bert Lahr say "I'm such a dandy lion!" whenever I hear the word 'dandelion'.
The King of the Forest song is probably my favorite part of Oz. :D Nobody could have done that like Bert Lahr (not nobody, not nohow).

I enjoyed this series of blogs. :D Good points about the use of the word "country" and 'The British are coming!" I have to admit, I'd never thought about that!

Re: Favorite Paintings

I ran across this beautiful Hudson River School painting today: Valley of the Yo-Semite (early spelling of Yosemite) by Albert Bierstadt (1864).
Surprisingly this painting is only about 12x19 inches. It is now in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Re: Instructional Videos/Social Guidance Films

That spotlight was a dumb idea. He ought not have felt forced to be comfortable being in the focus, if that wasn’t his personality. Or maybe I just sympathize because I’ve always hated being the center of attention—even now. And especially in flippant social situations like that one. :? On the other...
