Re: Favorite photos of silent stars

Yes, that's what it was.

Here is a beautiful photo of Buddy Rogers and Jobyna Ralston in Wings. Look at the lighting in this one.

Re: Magazine Ads

It kind of has the feel of an early 20th century ad, but the bobbed hairstyle gives it away as later.

Re: Magazine Ads

I like the head switcher best. I imagine these animations look better and clearer in person that they do in a video. What is the date of this device?

Re: Cat and the Canary (1927)

Ok, I finally got around to watching this. I loved it! What fun... It has just the right mixture of spookiness and comedy, and keeps you guessing every minute. I quite agree about the atmosphere and the camera work. The sets are wonderful, and the lighting may be the best I've seen in a silent film....

Re: The Comic Songster

I like those songs, especially Jim the Carter Lad. The Bacon and Greens vid is a little strange, though a nice song. But I am also having an urge to have my cholesterol checked after just listening to it. :( This reminds me of Uncle Dave Macon, one of the Grand Old Opry's early performers, whose fav...
