Re: Quote of the Day

That's very thought-provoking. We do have that artificial and harmful distinction between science and the arts. It applies to religious belief, too. So many times, Christians dismiss science and scientists dismiss Christianity, as if the two were mutually exclusive. :? Everyone sees what you appear ...

Re: The Match Game

Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember seeing that somewhere! Don't remember if it was a clip or just a photo, or what. It would be interesting to see a list of the future-famous that turned up on game shows!

Re: Shampoo plus Egg

That was a pretty interesting idea, getting the author of The Egg and I to do the commercial. You know, the women's hairstyles of the 50's never struck me as very attractive. There were some nice styles in the 40's and 60's, but the 50's hairstyles were just really drab and dull and ugly, to me. App...

Re: Les Paul and Mary Ford

Though I'm familiar with the names, I don't know if I'd ever actually seen or heard them. She had a lovely alto voice. Yes, they did have such good harmony and rapport, as well. And fantastic guitar work. I can see why they were popular. That was very enjoyable—thanks for posting

Re: Quote of the Day

“It is said that for money you can have everything, but you cannot. You can buy food, but not appetite; medicine, but not health; knowledge, but not wisdom; glitter, but not beauty; fun, but not joy; acquaintances, but not friends; servants, but not faithfulness; leisure, but not peace. You can have...

Re: I've Got A Secret

I also found it interesting how much Jayne Meadows sounds and looks like her sister Audrey (of The Honeymooners). These old I've Got a Secret shows are good—I've not actually watched a lot of them yet. At one time I went on a What's My Line? binge and watched about everything that was available on Y...

Re: I've Got A Secret

That was an interesting one. I enjoyed seeing George Gobel—I've always liked him. I wonder if the U.S. forces still have that enemy country deal—I kind of doubt it, probably military intelligence and strategy is too complex and sophisticated for that anymore. The telephone thing was kind of weird. I...

Re: Quote of the Day

I don't know where I ran across this one or who said it.

"Today is unique! It has never occurred before and it will never be repeated. At midnight it will end, quickly, suddenly, totally. Forever. But the hours between now and then are opportunities with eternal possibilities."
