Re: Irish tin whistle

I like it. Reminds me of parts of Alan Stivell's "Celtic Symphony," which I used to listen to a lot with friends in college over way too many beers.

The Lennon Sisters

This sister act had a 13-year gig on the Lawrence Welk show, from 1955 to 1968, followed by a one-season variety show with Jimmy Durante. I've found myself watching more and more of their clips on YouTube lately. They had an incredible vocal blend and each also sounded great on her own. Here's a cli...

You may have noticed I've completely revamped the banner! To help break in the new design, I've done a repeat of the flapper banner from August 2021. From left to right: Olive Borden, Colleen Moore, Clara Bow, Phyllis Haver.
Looks nice! Digging the Cooper Black font.

Re: Nino Tempo and April Stevens

In memory of April Stevens, here's her recording of "Alone," a song first heard in the Marx Brothers' "A Night at the Opera" in 1935.

April Stevens at 93

You may have read my posts about Nino Tempo and his sister April Stevens in the music section. I only recently learned that April died on April 17, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona, just 12 days short of her 94th birthday. Born Caroline LoTempio, she began her recording career at age 22 in 1951 and caus...

That grammatical error exists because the English lyric was written to be sung by a man but was very clumsily rewritten for female singers. As originally written by Norman Gimbel it goes, "She looks straight ahead, not at me."
