Topo Gigio

This is the cutest little mouse I have ever seen!! It's a puppet, although it looks like animation inserted into live action. His name is Topo GigioHere he is on the Ed Sullivan Show. Fan Art of Silent Photoplay Actors

This is a cool etching from March 1913 Motion Picture Story Magazine. Alice Joyce by A. B. Shults. I like it not only because it is beautiful, but because it is by a fan who sent their art in at Alice Joyce's peak of popularity.

Re: Literature That Glorifies the Photoplay

This is the longest acrostic poem I have ever seen, I think! 4 lines for each letter in the words Picture Players. WHEW! This was in February 1913 Motion Picture Story Magazine.

A time or two I’ve even started to reply in agreement to a comment and then looked at the name—um...that’s me. I’ve had the same thing happen on discussion boards.
 That is really funny!

Re: Silent Shorts

I must also mention Max Linder and his sophisticated comedic style for the time. I really like to see his manneirisms on screen. Max Linder in 'Le baromètre de la fidélité' (France 1909) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryXvRCoeXv0 This is a really great short! It reminds me much of a Bollywood film.

Re: Silent Shorts

1939 family movies of sledding—with score by Ben Model. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lu9xEIy_7g&feature=em-uploademail I saw this by accident on youtube again today, and I decided to do a little research. I'm pretty sure this film was taken in 1939 in Minnesota. The license plate looks just...
