Re: Beautiful More Modern Music

I don't think it's Led Zeppelin you're thinking of.... Their vocals were very whiny.
I was listening to them today and thought maybe you're talking about Aerosmith. The vocals sound like Steve Tyler.

Re: Antique Books

The advertisements on the back make me want every book on there! I just love old books so much! The pages in this book are so thick! I didn't know it would be such a quick read.

Yes, there are some beautiful photos in it. It's a much fatter book than I expected. Of course, I'm not complaining!!
The projector is awesome. I don't have to sit up in bed if I'm really tired. I just project it on the ceiling! :)

Re: What Have You Gotten Lately?

Well, I found a box on my doorstep today from my oldest friend. I knew she was going to send me something (she asked my address the other day) but I never imagined that it would be The Movies, Mr. Griffith and Me by Lillian Gish. I've wanted this book for years. Boy, do I have a lot of reading to do...

Wow. You certainly get your money's worth with that one. Some wonderful, if mystical, imagery.
These books are definitely treasures. I love them.

Re: Antique Books

Honestly, I feel like a dunce to say that I have never even heard of Uffizi! Can you believe it? This book is the first I've heard of it. I finished the book. It was not really a story, more a short grazing biography of a rich American who spent her childhood in Florence. More like what it was like ...

Re: Quote of the Day

Speaking of a statue and picture of Medusa -- "How, as a child, I used to puzzle over the strange fable in both statue and picture! But, since then, I have had experience of Gorgon natures in real life; natures that chilled and repressed, stupefied all with whom they came in contact; and I wonder le...

Re: Antique Books

"Sauntering across this bridge, one passes, on his way to Uffizi, various shops in narrow streets, where the sold off Florentine manufacture are displayed. Such pretty silks, dear girls, and so cheap! For a mere song you may go dressed like the butterflies, in Florence, clad in bright, sheeny raimen...
